Dynamic fashion design can be defined as fashion garments with transformable styles and animated colors or textile patterns that visibly change from the garments’ underlying colors or patterns, and even details, to others and then return to the initial condition after a period of time. For designing and developing 3D dynamic fashion garments, CLO3D and Aftereffects were used with a design collaboration between a fashion designer and a motion graphic artist group, Protobacillus. Ten samples of a ready-to-wear collection were developed to visualize aesthetic and technological explorations of 3D dynamic fashion garments composed of short videos.

Technique: CLO3D, Aftereffects

Title | Lenticular Modules

11th Solo Exhibition (2019, Korea)

Digital technology today has created innumerable aesthetic and expressive changes in fashion design by introducing new media based on three-dimensional effects to it. Reacting to various dynamic variables, such as specific materials, computational technology, or environmental conditions, textile design allows visually dynamic possibilities to fashion and accessory design, in contrast with traditional one with fixed and static expressions. This exhibition aims to develop textile design with dynamic color changes by employing a lenticular printing technique, in which lenticular lenses for three-dimensional displays create dynamic color changes with visual illusion, as the image is viewed from different angles. More specifically, module-based textile design, integrated into lenticular fabric sheets emphasizes iridescent gradations and 3D color changes in the fashion items

Material: lenticular fabric sheets, PVC

Technique: 3D lenticular printing, Digital textile printing

Title | Psychedelia

10th Solo Exhibition (2017, USA)

Pls, go to the following link to see works with moving patterns. https://drive.google.com/drive/u/1/folders/18_Ryw4hRA-Yek7dkNGFasKOEqFdSkuec

This project is a follow-up of the author’s previous exhibition, entitled Patterns in Motion – Microbial Expressionism, and aims to suggest digital fashion illustrations with 3D moving patterns - drawing its inspiration from Psychedelia. The author intends to represent the potential of digitalized, future-driven fashion that can be downloaded and customized.

The term Psychedelia was given originally to the subculture that often used psychedelic drugs, but also refers to psychedelic art or psychedelic music, reflecting the experience of altered consciousness and hallucinations.

Title | Patterns in Motion

            - Microbial Expressionism -

8th Solo Exhibition (2016, Korea)

This project introduces digital fashion illustrations by computer graphic moving images to show potential to download and transform patterns and colors in fashion garments, as an emotional approach for future-driven fashion. More specifically, patterns for this project are developed from the beauty of microbes seen through an electron microscope, which shows organic and dynamic movement and expressionism.

Title | Crease Clothes

9th Solo Exhibition (2016, Korea)

The works show experimentations to blur boundaries between 2 dimensions of flat illustrations and 3 dimensions of fashion garments. Illustrations drawn by graphic media are overlapped by colored semi-transparent organzas, which then are creased to represent drapery effects of see-through clothes...

Material: Organza

Technique: Adobe Illustrator, Layering, Sewing, Shirring, Pleating
